At least 700 indigenes of Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state has received free services from a one day medical outreach organised by the state office of the National Youth Social Corps (NYSC).
The event, Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD), held at the local government Secretariat, offered consultation in physiotherapy, medical laboratory services, blood sugar test, drugs prescription and administration, among others.
The State Coordinator, NYSC Mr. Kehinde Aremu, said the initiative was aimed at providing quality healthcare services to rural areas that do not have close proximity to health facilities and institutions available in urban centres
Aremu, who said the NYSC medical teams included laboratory scientists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, doctors and others, assured that their medical personnel working or serving in the council area would continue the process thereafter including managing the patients they obtained their data.
The Assistant Director, NYSC Community Development Services, Mrs. Benedith Nwokeke, charged residents of the Council Area to take advantage of the opportunity to know their health status, as well as manage them well.
The Transition Committee Chairman of Ihiala Local Government Area, Hon. Jude Obi, represented by Secretary to the Council, Hon. Jerome Madu, applauded NYSC for the initiative, assuring that Ihiala would give maximum support and cooperation the corps members.
