The Adamawa State Government has appealed to residents to come out in large numbers to receive President Bola Tinubu during his one day official visit to the state on Monday.
In a public notice released on Sunday, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Iliya James, announced that certain roads would be temporarily closed to guarantee a safe and hitch free visit by the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.
The affected routes include Airport to Kofare Road via Galadima Aminu Way and Bank Road, Jimeta Grade Interchange and Police Roundabout, Justice Buba Ardo Way, Adamawa Sunshine Express to Faro Road, along with other adjoining roads.
The state government encouraged citizens to turn out to welcome the President and advised motorists to use alternative routes throughout the duration of the visit.
“Residents are kindly urged to come out peacefully to welcome Mr. President to our dear State while motorists are advised to make use of alternative routes for their lawful activities during the period of the closure.
“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation always,” the statement read.
The government further stated that the President’s itinerary includes the commissioning of multiple projects completed under the administration of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
According to the Commissioner, Tinubu will inaugurate the newly built underpass at the former Bekaji Roundabout, the upgraded Bank Road in Yola, and a model school in Yola North Local Government Area, which is among 21 recently constructed across the state.
He is also scheduled to lay the foundation for a permanent NYSC orientation camp in Malkohi, commission a state of the art High Court Complex, unveil the automated entrance gate at Government House, and inaugurate the newly completed Governor’s Office complex.
“These projects span key sectors including education, infrastructure, justice administration, governance, security, healthcare, and human capital development,” Iliya said.
Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Police Command has intensified security arrangements across the state in preparation for the President’s visit.
The Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, has directed the mobilisation of operational resources such as the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Surveillance Squad, and Crowd and Traffic Control Unit to ensure peace and order.
The police also noted that undercover surveillance activities would be carried out throughout the state to guarantee a calm and incident free visit.
