Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed circulating reports suggesting he has resigned from his position, describing the claims as false.
Reacting to the rumours in a conversation with Channels Television, the minister clarified that the resignation letter being shared online is not authentic and did not originate from him.
While reaffirming his interest in the 2027 Oyo State governorship race, Adelabu stressed that he would make his next political move at the appropriate time and in line with due process.
He said, “Of course, yes, I am very much in the race.
“But I will act at the appropriate time, and you will be duly informed, but will be with the consent of Mr President.
“For now, I’m committed to my present assignment. It’s still about service, whether national or sub-national”.
Adelabu’s comments come amid heightened political activities following a directive by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, requiring all political appointees seeking elective offices ahead of the 2027 elections to resign on or before March 31.
Despite growing speculation about his next move, the minister has maintained his focus on his current responsibilities while keeping his governorship ambition on course.
Meanwhile, political mobilisation efforts continue within Oyo State, with key stakeholders working to consolidate support for the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of the upcoming elections.
