APC Appoints Uzodimma Chair Of National Convention Committee

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set up a central coordination committee to oversee its 2026 national convention, appointing Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as chairman.

In a statement from the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, signed by APC National Secretary Surajudeen Basiru and National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu, the national working committee said the panel will manage preparations for the 2026 convention.

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq was named vice chairman of the committee, while Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni will serve as secretary.

The party said the committee comprises serving and former governors, senators, members of the National Assembly, and other party leaders from across Nigeria.

Among the members are Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas; Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin; Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu; former Senate Presidents Anyim Pius Anyim, Ken Nnamani, and Ahmed Lawan; former Speakers Aminu Bello Masari, Patricia Etteh, Dimeji Bankole, Yakubu Dogara, and Femi Gbajabiamila; APC Interim National Chairman Bisi Akande; former party chairmen Adams Oshiomhole, Abdullahi Adamu, and Abdullahi Ganduje; Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris Malagi; and Minister of Defence Christopher Musa (retd.).

Serving governors on the committee include Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Babagana Zulum (Borno), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Ahmad Aliyu (Sokoto), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Mohammed Umar Bago (Niger), and Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti).

The APC stated that “details of the inauguration of the central coordination committee for the 2026 national convention will be announced in due course.”

The party also released an updated timetable for ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses. According to the schedule, e-registration of members will run from January 31 to February 8, while ward congresses are set for February 18.

Local government congresses will hold on February 21, with appeals concluded by February 23. State congresses are scheduled for March 3, followed by zonal congresses across the six geopolitical zones on March 25. The national convention is fixed for March 27–28.

The APC also announced fees for aspirants seeking party offices. The nomination form for the APC national chairman position costs N10 million, while forms for deputy national chairman and national secretary are N7.5 million each. Female aspirants, youths, and persons living with disabilities will pay for the expression of interest form and “50 percent of the prescribed nomination fees for each position.”

Ekiti, Osun, Rivers states, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are excluded from ward, local government, and state congresses but will participate in electing three delegates to the national convention.
