The All Progressives Congress has won four of the five legislative by-elections conducted across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states, according to results reported following the September 19, 2026 polls.
The elections covered one House of Representatives constituency and four state House of Assembly constituencies.
The Independent National Electoral Commission lists the September 19 elections for the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano, Disina and Sakwa constituencies in Bauchi, and Udu State Constituency in Delta. The contests are also listed on INEC’s Result Viewing portal.

APC Takes Gombe Federal Constituency
In Gombe State, APC candidate Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a won the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency election with 41,121 votes.
The Labour Party recorded 3,553 votes, while the Allied Peoples Movement polled 872 votes, according to the results reported by Punch.
The election was held to fill the House of Representatives seat left vacant following the death of the constituency’s former lawmaker, Yaya Bauchi Tongo.
APC Records Wins in Kano and Delta
In Kano, Husseini Yusuf-Datti of the APC won the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency election after receiving 22,890 votes.
His Peoples Redemption Party challenger received 270 votes, while the PDP recorded 108 votes.
In Delta State, APC candidate Okolosi Ator won the Udu State Constituency with 8,724 votes, compared with 214 votes recorded for the PDP.
Bauchi Splits Two Seats Between APC and APM
The two Bauchi State Assembly contests produced different outcomes.
APC candidate Yakubu Ali won the Disina State Constituency with 5,846 votes, ahead of the APM, which received 5,225 votes, and the PRP with 3,701.
But the APC did not sweep Bauchi.
In the Sakwa State Constituency, Adamu Yakubu of the Allied Peoples Movement won with 8,515 votes. The APC received 3,771 votes, the PDP 2,076 and the PRP 727.
The final outcome left the APC with four seats and the APM with one.
INEC Says Polls Offer Operational Lessons
INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan described the multi-state by-elections as important operational exercises from which the commission could draw lessons as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The results provide evidence of how voters chose in these five specific constituencies. They should not, by themselves, be treated as a forecast of nationwide voting in the 2027 general elections, where the electorate, candidates and political conditions will be substantially broader.
