Army Launches Investigation into Alleged Brutalization of Nigerian by Soldiers in Abuja

The Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has instructed an investigation into the alleged assault of a Nigerian citizen by soldiers, following a dispute between the individual, a senior officer, and two soldiers. The incident, captured in a viral video, has prompted widespread attention.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the Army’s awareness of the disturbing video circulating on social media. The footage purportedly shows an altercation involving a man, a woman, and military personnel in the Abuja area.

While the details surrounding the incident remain unclear, Lieutenant General Oluyede has ordered an immediate probe to determine the exact circumstances. The Nigerian Army emphasized its commitment to upholding the law and protecting all law-abiding citizens, as stated in the nation’s Constitution.

The Army has reassured the public that a thorough and fair investigation will be conducted to bring clarity and justice to the situation.
