Welsh Teachers calls off Strike

Teachers in Wales have called off a two strike dates after the Welsh government proposed a new pay offer. National Education Union (NEU) members were due to walk out on 15 March and 16 March, But the union announced that the strikes will be cancelled following talks with the Welsh government. The welsh Education Minister, Jeremy Miles has offered to give teachers an 8% increase in pay for 2022-23. The Welsh government told the unions that if members were to benefit from a pay rise this year, they must reach an agreement by 17 March. Miles also said he would pay teachers the rise as talks continue if they suspended action until the end of the academic year.

OAU Announces New Resumption Date

Due to the postponement of the Gubernatorial and State Houses of Assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) at the weekend announced that the resumption of academic activities earlier scheduled for 15th March 2023, has been shifted to Tuesday, 21st March 2023.
