Babcock Hospital performed over 959 Open-Heart Surgeries —VC

The Vice-Chancellor of Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Prof Ademola Tayo, said the Babcock University Teaching Hospital has performed over 959 open-heart surgeries in the last six years.

Speaking on Wednesday at the university’s Founder’s Day press conference, Tayo said, “A total of over 959 open-heart surgeries were performed at our teaching hospital in the last six years out of which over 518 were major with about 95 per cent success rate.

“The teaching hospital, apart from meeting a percentage of the nation’s medical need, offers our students of medicine, nursing science, and public health the rare opportunity of interacting with equipment and specialists not necessarily available in other universities.’’

He added that the celebration was also the 63rd founder’s day anniversary of the Adventist Seminary; adding that Babcock University is the second private university in the country licensed to run open distance education.
