Benue Assembly passes 46 bills, proceed on recess

Benue State House of Assembly on Tuesday, embarked on recess to mark the end of the 3rd sitting of the 3rd legislative session for 2021/2022, of the 9th assembly after passage of 46 bills.

Majority leader of the House, Mr Damian Cheme, who moved a motion to allow the house to proceed on recess, stated that, according to the annual calendar of the business of the house, the 3rd legislative session terminates on 29th of this month and the motion was seconded by Minority Whip, Mr Cephas Dyako.

Addressing the house before the commencement of the recess, the Deputy Speaker, Mr Chris Adaji said, despite the daunting challenges including the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the 9th Assembly has performed well in their legislative responsibilities.

He said, the 8th Assembly passed a total of 58 bills and 46 of such bills, were from the Executive arms, while the remaining 12 were from members of the house.
