Brazil’s Vice President Arrives In Nigeria For Strategic Discussions

Brazil’s Vice President, Geraldo Alckmin, and his wife, Maria Alckmin, arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday to participate in the second session of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism.

They were received at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, and Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment.

Welcoming the delegation alongside them were the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha, and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, among other top officials.

The visit is seen as a pivotal step in strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic ties within the South-South cooperation framework.

It is projected to generate significant policy advancements across various sectors.

At a brief airport reception, Hadejia described the visit as “a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He underscored the importance of enhancing ties with Brazil.

“This dialogue mechanism represents our commitment to leveraging South-South partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to our citizens.

“Brazil’s expertise in agribusiness, energy transition, and industrial development aligns perfectly with Nigeria’s transformation priorities and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu,” Hadejia said.

The three-day summit will conclude with the signing of over 30 Memoranda of Understanding in key sectors.

These sectors include defense cooperation, agricultural technology transfer, energy collaboration, and cultural exchange programs.
