Communal Clashes: Olu of Warri Decries attacks

The Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, has bemoaned the prevailing bloodbath at settling communal disputes just as he reiterated his commitment to peace and cooperation among the various ethnic nationalities in Delta State.

The frontline traditional ruler made the assertions at his Ajamimorha Royal Palace on Saturday on the occasion of the celebration of his fifth coronation anniversary which he described as “a significant milestone”.

The monarch specifically called for peaceful coexistence between the Itsekiri and their neighours in Delta declaring that “no human needs, wants, demands or ambition is worth the blood of any of our people”.

He also urged the youths under the umbrella body of Itsekiri National Youth Council to sheathe swords and embrace unity for the organisation to thrive.

The monarch said, “We, however, must point out that whatever grievances they (the people) have should be pursued in a way that will continue to engender peaceful peaceful coexistence and discourage violence and bloodshed. No human needs, wants, demands or ambition is worth the blood of any of our people.

“We, therefore, stand ready and prepared to do all that we can to continue to promote peace and contribute to the security of lives and national assets in our kingdom within the three Warri local government areas.”
