Paris Saint-Germain have been dealt another injury setback after confirming that winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will sit out Wednesday’s Champions League group-stage trip to Barcelona with a suspected thigh injury.
The 24-year-old Georgia international was forced off during Saturday’s Ligue 1 victory over Auxerre.
PSG are already missing Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé, fellow forward Désiré Doué, and centre-back Marquinhos, all sidelined through injury.
Head coach Luis Enrique has called up midfielders Vitinha third in the Ballon d’Or rankings and João Neves for the high-profile encounter against Barcelona, the club he once represented both as a player and manager.
Injuries have clouded the start of PSG’s European campaign, coming just months after they ended last season with a Club World Cup final defeat to Chelsea in mid-July. Dembélé and Doué have been unavailable since early September.
