D’Tigress To Face U.S.A In Quarter-Final Of Women’s Basketball At Paris 2024

Nigeria’s D’Tigress have been drawn against the United States in the quarter-final of the women’s basketball event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. This will be Nigeria’s first-ever appearance in the last eight of the Olympic basketball tournament.

The Rena Wakama-led team secured their spot in the quarter-finals with a 79-70 victory over Canada in their final group game on Sunday. Despite topping Group B for a period, D’Tigress dropped a place after Australia defeated France 79-72 in another group game.

Nigeria will now face the US, the defending champions, on August 7 at 9:30 pm local time (8:30 pm Nigerian time). This match will be the second time both nations meet at the Olympics.

At the Tokyo Games, D’Tigress lost to the Americans by nine points in their opening group match. The two teams also faced off in the 2024 Olympic qualifiers, where Nigeria suffered a heavy defeat.

In other quarter-final matchups, Serbia will play against Australia, Spain will face Belgium, and France will battle Germany.
