Edo Election 2024: Okpebholo Vows to Continue Oshiomhole’s Legacy

The newly elected Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has pledged to elevate the state to new heights upon assuming office. In a closely contested election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the victor on Sunday.

He garnered 291,667 votes, surpassing Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 247,274 votes, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party, who finished third with 22,761 votes.

Speaking to reporters after his victory, Okpebholo expressed gratitude to the people of Edo State for entrusting him with the responsibility of governance. He vowed to build on the foundation laid by former Governor Adams Oshiomhole and promised to replicate the remarkable development seen in Akwa Ibom State under Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

“I am immensely grateful to the people of Edo for making the right choice. Edo is on the rise, and my administration will usher in a new era of growth and transformation. I will continue from where Adams Oshiomhole left off and strive to replicate the success Akpabio achieved in Akwa Ibom. By the grace of God, Edo will experience a renewed transformation,” Okpebholo affirmed.
