The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 98.58% of the results from the Edo governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal.
As of 8:40 AM on Sunday, results from 4,455 of the 4,519 polling units where elections took place in the state have been successfully submitted.
INEC reports that Edo State has 2,629,025 registered voters across 4,519 polling units, with 2,249,780 individuals (85.57%) having obtained Permanent Voters’ Cards.
Candidates vying for the governorship include Senator Monday Okpebholo from the All Progressives Congress, Asue Ighodalo from the Peoples Democratic Party, and Olumide Akpata from the Labour Party.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo State, Anugbum Onuoha, assured the public that the electronic transmission of results would proceed smoothly, provided there are no network issues.
