Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the release of one billion naira to pay gratuities to state pensioners, fulfilling a key commitment to support retirees.
Last month, Governor Oyebanji distributed N3.5 billion in gratuity cheques to retirees as part of his ongoing efforts to address outstanding payments.
In a statement on Thursday, Yinka Oyebode, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, announced that Oyebanji also approved the payment of two months’ pension arrears for local government retirees.
Additionally, the governor has sanctioned the release of two months’ outstanding subvention for Ekiti State University in Ado Ekiti, alongside one month’s subvention for Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science, and Technology in Ikere Ekiti, the College of Health Science and Technology in Ijero Ekiti, and the Judiciary.
These payments underscore Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of both workers and retirees by settling entitlements from previous administrations. He has encouraged all state employees to stay focused on providing excellent service, reiterating his administration’s dedication to their wellbeing and the continuity and shared prosperity of Ekiti State.
