A powerful explosion has struck a section of the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) in Bodo Community, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The blast occurred late Monday night near the Bodo-Bonny Road, which is currently under construction. A video that surfaced on Tuesday morning shows thick black smoke billowing into the sky as flames rapidly spread through the mangrove forest.
The TNP is a key federal transport pipeline that supplies crude oil to the Bonny Export Terminal in Rivers State.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that she would investigate the incident and provide further details. However, no official update had been released as of the time of filing this report.
