Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is set to arrive in Nigeria today for a three-day official visit, lasting from December 10 to December 12, 2024. The announcement was made in a press release issued by the German Embassy in Abuja.
During his visit, President Steinmeier will meet with top Nigerian leaders, including President Bola Tinubu and the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Alieu Touray, to discuss bilateral relations. In Lagos, the German leader will interact with business representatives, explore a start-up hub, and engage with cultural and civil society figures, such as renowned artist Dr. Nike Okundaye and Nobel laureate Professor Wole Soyinka.
The visit will also feature a tour of Lagos, Africa’s largest city, where Steinmeier will observe urban development projects and explore the challenges and opportunities of megacity living. He will be accompanied by a delegation of German business executives from the IT, high-tech, and energy sectors, signaling increased German interest in investment opportunities in Nigeria.
This landmark visit underscores the strengthening ties between Nigeria and Germany, with a focus on fostering economic, cultural, and political collaboration.
