Golden Eaglets To Face Burkina Faso In Caf U-17 Quarter-Finals

Burkina Faso on Sunday beat Cameroon 2-1 in the last of Group C matches.

Burkina Faso thus finish second in the group behind Senegal.

Cameroon with no point finished last in the group of three teams following the expulsion of South Sudan.

The score line set up a fixture of Nigeria and Burkina Faso in the quarter-finals. Consequently too, Cameroon which finished third in the Group C are arithmetically out of the competition, giving South Africa, a slot in the quarter finals.

It was twist of fate for Cameroon who first found the net in the 61st minute. But a brace by Burkina Faso’s Souleymane Alio in the 76th and 78th turned the pendulum against Cameroon.

The Eaglets booked their place into the knockout stage after coming from behind twice to defeat South Africa 3-2 in Saturday.

Nduka Ugbade side will take on their quarter-final opponent on Thursday, May 11.

Meanwhile, other quarter-final pairing will see Senegal take on South Africa, Morocco tackle Algeria and Mali battle Congo.
