Reports describing the surveillance footage said the attackers moved between POS stands, forcing operators to surrender money before returning to their tricycle.

The suspects reportedly escaped through the surrounding traffic shortly after collecting the cash.

The footage has attracted attention online, with concerns raised about the ability of armed criminals to carry out such an operation in a crowded commercial area.

The exact amount stolen and the number of affected operators have not been independently confirmed.

Residents Raise Security Concernshttps:

The incident has renewed concerns about the safety of traders and small business owners operating around major junctions in Awka.

Some eyewitnesses quoted by Linda Ikeji’s Blog alleged that similar attacks had occurred against POS businesses in the area. However, the frequency and circumstances of those earlier incidents have not been independently established.

Local traders and residents have called for stronger security measures, including increased police patrols and improved surveillance around commercial centres.

Calls for Increased Police Patrols

The incident highlights the risks faced by POS operators who handle cash withdrawals, transfers and other financial transactions daily.

Residents have urged the Anambra State Police Command and local security agencies to improve security around busy junctions and business locations.

As of October 5, the reports reviewed did not contain confirmation of arrests or an official police statement specifically addressing the incident.

The robbery has intensified calls for measures to protect small businesses and prevent similar attacks in the state capital.
