IGP Disu Redeploys Senior Police Officers

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved a major redeployment of senior officers across the Nigeria Police Force as part of efforts to boost operational efficiency, strengthen leadership, and improve service delivery nationwide.

The directive was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, who noted that the postings align with the police’s commitment to a more effective command structure and strategic personnel distribution.

Under the new arrangement, several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) have been assigned to critical departments and zones:

  • AIG Ado Emmanuel – Research and Planning, Force Headquarters, Abuja
  • AIG Joseph Eribo – Department of Armament
  • AIG Miller Dantawaye – Department of Operations
  • AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche – Training and Development
  • AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo – Accounts and Budget
  • AIG Dahiru Mohammed – Zone 15, Maiduguri

Other postings include AIG Dankombo F. Morris (Zone 4, Makurdi), AIG Bello Shehu (Zone 14, Katsina), AIG Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba (Legal Services), AIG Ahmed Musa (Community Policing), AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh (Zone 2, Lagos), AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom (FCID Annex, Lagos), and AIG Haruna Olufemi (Special Protection Unit, Abuja).

The IGP also approved the redeployment of several Commissioners of Police (CPs) to state commands and strategic formations:

  • CP Haruna Yahaya – Jigawa State
  • CP Betty Otimenyin – Welfare, Force Headquarters
  • CP Olugbenga Abimbola – Oyo State
  • CP Yemi John Oyeniyi – Delta State
  • CP Olubode Ojajuni – Ogun State
  • CP Michael Falade – Ekiti State
  • CP Yakubu Dankaro – Adamawa State

Additional postings include CP Muhammed Ahmed (FCT Command), CP Olatunji Fatai (Lagos State), CP Morkwap Dongshal (Taraba), CP Ahmed Bello (Zamfara), CP Umar Fagge (Katsina), and CP Hayatu Shaffa Hassan (Sokoto).

Several officers were also assigned to specialised units and departments, including:

  • CP Akan Ezima – Director, NPF-NCCC, Abuja
  • CP Abbas Sule – Special Protection Unit
  • CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue – INTERPOL, Abuja
  • CP Mnwadiogbu Cletus – Deputy Commandant, POLAC
  • CP Moses Ashu Otta – SWAT, Abuja

Other redeployments span departments such as General Investigation, Community Policing, Administration, Special Fraud Unit, K9, Safer Highway, and Police College formations across the country.

“Tunji Disu charges the officers to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their respective assignments and to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and service in the discharge of their duties,” the statement said.

The sweeping redeployment reflects the leadership direction of Olatunji Disu to reposition the Nigeria Police Force for greater effectiveness. With experienced officers now placed in key roles, the move is expected to enhance coordination, improve security outcomes, and strengthen public confidence in policing across the country.
