Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwolu has expressed his sympathy to families who lost their loved ones at the November 1 building collapse at Ikoyi South-west Nigeria.

He said Government was doing all it can to bring out the remaining bodies in the rubble.

He told the Press to only give out accurate information.

Environment Correspondent Gimalo-Angel Olowogoke reports that so far 32 bodies have been recovered as stated by the Governor.

He also explained why the bodies were taken to Gbagada General Hospital instead of a hospital on the Island. He said it was in line with Covid 19 restrictions and codes.

The Governor further stated that people who were looking for people and were not sure if they were part of the incident should register with Lagos State and wait for further directives.

A citizen, Mr. Emmanuel who spoke to LN247 said he came all the way from Abuja to look for his son in the rubble and he still hasn’t had any information.

Another lady said she was told her brother was rescued but she wasn’t able to locate him yet.

Governor Sanwo-Olu responded that Government will do all they can to get their loved ones out. He also offered accommodation to Mr. Emmanuel while his son was being located.

The Governor also said that sophisticated equipment was on ground to use for the rescue work.

Rescue efforts are still ongoing as at Press time.
