Sulley Muntari may return to Ghana Black Stars after eight years
With the clock fast ticking down to the crucial World Cup play-off with Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Ghana Black Stars handlers are thinking of recalling one of their exiled players.
The Ghanaians, in disarray, have not been able to announce a provisional squad owing to multiple factors including mandatory ban of their skipper, Andre Ayew and Benjamin Tetteh as well as injuries being nursed by some key players.
Owing to those factors, the Ghana FA is considering recalling the 37-year old Sulley Muntari who was at the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
He was however banned from the national team owing to the role he played in forcing the Ghanaian government to pay the players before their last group match at the World Cup.
The Ghana FA will seek certification from the Justice Dzamefe Commission that investigated the actions of the players at the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
It was the last World Cup appearance for Ghana. Sports Village Square gathered that the Ghanaians are looking at the experience of the 37 year old player who dazzled in the Hearts of Oak team in the Ghana Premier League and the President’s Cup.
The former AC Milan and Inter star has been banned from the national team until he apologizes for his role in the 2014 World Cup debacle.
Interim coach Otto Addo is yet to announce his squad for the games against Nigeria later this month, but sources close reveal he has been monitoring his former Ghana team-mate.
