The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Awka, south East Nigeria, has pledged to groom its members to be professionals of world class standards, while positioning the institute as a first class global institution.

The seventh Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Awka area division, Kingsley Chukwuemeka Dim made the pledge during his inaugural speech at his investiture.

Dim said their agenda as the new committee was to market ICAN, improve members value and placements in their workplace, and ensure special consideration for membership status.

The investiture also witnessed the inauguration of the 2022/2023 Executive Committee of the District by the 58th National President of the Institute, Tijjani Musa Isa, who was represented by Ngozika Okoye a former Commissioner For Finance in Anambra State.

He noted that their mission was to ”produce world class chartered accountants, regulate and continually enhance their technical competence in the public interest.” while calling on members of the new executive to work harder to make their tenure a reference point.

The programme which has its lecture theme as ‘Repositioning Anambra State For Rapid Social Economic Transformation: The role of Chartered Accountants” was attended by members of other professional organisations and guests who came to witness the investiture.

In a paper presentation on the theme of the event, a professor of Accountancy, Sunday Okaro called on the chartered accountants to close ranks with economists to create unique and intelligent programmes and services that would help create a favourable investment environment that will lead to financial stability in the State and the entire country.

Dim is the Head Of Bursary, Department Of Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu and has served as Chief Finance Officer of the Institution and Chief Financial Adviser to the Management and the Governing Council.
