Israel has announced fresh airstrikes on Iran’s “leadership compound” in Tehran, including the presidential office, as the reported death toll from ongoing hostilities rises sharply.
According to Israeli officials, the latest operation targeted key government facilities in the Iranian capital. A reporter inside Iran said “every part” of Tehran has been hit since Saturday. Separately, BBC Verify analysed satellite imagery showing damage to a nuclear facility in Natanz.
The Iranian Red Crescent Society said the number of fatalities since the joint US-Israeli offensive began has reached 787.
In Israel, the defence minister stated that ground forces would “advance and seize additional strategic areas in Lebanon” in a bid to halt attacks on Israeli territory.
Meanwhile, the Embassy of the United States, Riyadh was struck by two drones, reportedly launched from Iran.
Energy markets have also reacted strongly to the escalation. International gas prices surged again on Tuesday morning, climbing by as much as 30 percent after already recording gains of up to 50 percent on Monday.
US President Donald Trump renewed his criticism of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, accusing him of initially refusing access to British military bases.
The conflict intensified after coordinated strikes by the United States and Israel on Saturday reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Tehran has since launched retaliatory attacks across the region.
On Monday, the United States Department of State urged American citizens in the Middle East to “depart now” amid growing security concerns.
