President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Paris, France, for Nigeria after completing a working vacation in Europe.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s aircraft is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos later on Tuesday.
Tinubu left Abuja on August 30 for the working vacation. He spent about a week in London before travelling to Paris.
Why Tinubu Is Returning Through Lagos
The Presidency said Tinubu chose to return through Lagos to honour the memory of MKO Abiola, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
The President is expected to attend the premiere of a film celebrating Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, on October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day.
The event is expected to form part of activities marking the country’s 66th Independence anniversary.
Tinubu Expected To Hold Political Meetings
While in Lagos, Tinubu is also expected to meet with political leaders and associates.
According to the Presidency, the meetings will form part of his political engagements ahead of the 2027 elections.
After completing his engagements in Lagos, Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja.
The Presidency has not provided further details on the specific political meetings planned for Lagos.
