19 Ad-Hoc staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, who were abducted in the State early on Saturday morning have been rescued by Imo State Police Command men.
Chinenye Chijioke-Osuji, a spokesperson for INEC in the State, verified the news stating that after receiving a distress call, the abducted were rescued and the security personnel informed of the situation quickly swung into action.
The abducted Ad-Hoc staff members were enroute seven separate polling units in Ugbelie, Ward 06 of the Ideato South Local Government Area. The INEC spokesperson further revealed that some election-related materials, such as the BVAS amongst others were not recovered afterwards.
