As part of efforts to equip the Nigerian Labour Movement with required knowledge in line with global practice standards, all newly elected labour union leaders in the country have been mandated to go through compulsory labour relations studies at the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS).
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige who was represented by the Director General, National Productivity Centre, Kashim Akor disclosed this in Ilorin the Kwara State capital during an event at the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies, where he noted that government will no longer recognize any labour leader who fails to comply with the directive.
According to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, the Nation’s labour unions require enlightened industrial relations knowledge and skills.

In his remarks, the Director General of Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies, Issa Aremu noted that the institute has trained well over one hundred thousand workers on industrial labour relations across Nigeria in the last forty years of existence of the institute.
With the dynamics in various areas of work, industrial relations knowledge on the path of Nigerian workers and their leaders is not negotiable.
