Lagos Speaker Mojisola Meranda Denies Resignation Rumors

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has firmly denied rumors circulating about her resignation.

Segun Ajiboye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, dismissed the claims on Wednesday, stating, “I’m in the office. The speaker is in the office. I don’t know where that is coming from.”

This statement came after an online report emerged suggesting that Meranda had stepped down. Additionally, a circular allegedly issued by Meranda on February 17, 2025, was widely shared over the past two days, stating her resignation.

However, further investigation revealed that the letter, which was circulating on social media, lacked any signatures.

This development comes amid ongoing leadership tensions within the Lagos Assembly, following the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru by a majority of lawmakers.
