The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has suspended the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) rank of renowned lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, pending the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings against him.
The decision was taken during the committee’s 173rd General Meeting held on June 23, 2026, and was officially communicated in a statement issued by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi.
According to the LPPC, the suspension takes immediate effect and is in accordance with Paragraph 26(6) of the Guidelines for the Conferment of the Rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria and related matters.
The committee stated that the action serves as a precautionary measure while an investigation by its Disciplinary and Ethics Sub-Committee is ongoing.
As a result of the suspension, Ozekhome will not be permitted to use the SAN title until the disciplinary proceedings and any related matters have been fully concluded.
The LPPC reiterated its commitment to preserving the integrity, ethical standards, and professional values associated with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, adding that all investigations and proceedings will be conducted in line with due process.
