Luka Modric Signs One-Year Deal with AC Milan

AC Milan have officially announced the signing of Croatia captain Luka Modric on a one-year contract, marking a new chapter in the veteran midfielder’s illustrious career.

The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner, who will turn 40 in September, joins the Rossoneri after a legendary 12-year spell at Real Madrid, where he arrived from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012. His move to Italy had been widely speculated since early June, following his confirmation that he would leave the Spanish giants upon the expiration of his contract.

“AC Milan are delighted to announce that Luka Modric has signed a contract with the club until 30 June 2026, with an option to extend until 30 June 2027,” the 19-time Serie A champions said in an official statement on Monday.

Modric underwent medical tests in Milan earlier in the day and, according to Italian media reports, is expected to begin training with his new teammates in August.

“I’m very happy to be here to start a new chapter in my career,” Modric said in a welcome video shared on Milan’s social media channels. “A big hug to everyone,” he added warmly.

His arrival reunites him with manager Massimiliano Allegri, who returned to Milan earlier this summer. Allegri previously guided the club to the Serie A title in 2011 during his first stint in charge between 2010 and 2014.

AC Milan are set to kick off their 2025/26 campaign with an Italian Cup fixture on August 17.
