Ghana’s newly inaugurated President, John Dramani Mahama, has revealed his core cabinet appointments, signaling his administration’s commitment to economic revival. Cassiel Ato Forson has been appointed as Finance Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor returns as Energy Minister, and Dominic Akuritinga Ayine will serve as Attorney General and Justice Minister.
After serving as President from 2012 to 2017, Mahama vowed during his campaign to maintain a streamlined cabinet and make swift appointments. With a commanding parliamentary majority held by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the approval process for his nominees is expected to proceed smoothly.
Forson, a chartered accountant and former Deputy Finance Minister, is tasked with leading efforts to stabilize and grow the nation’s economy. Jinapor, who previously served as Energy Minister, will confront ongoing energy sector challenges. Ayine, a veteran lawmaker and legal expert, brings vast experience to his new role in the Justice Ministry.
Mahama has emphasized his administration’s focus on economic recovery, fostering a business-friendly environment, and combating corruption as key pillars of his presidency.
