Malawi president Lazarus Chakwera has sacked his entire cabinet over corruption concerns. To announce a new cabinet in two days.
In a televised address to the nation on Monday, the president vowed to “confront all forms of lawless conduct by public officials”.
Three of the ministers are facing charges including the minister of lands who was arrested last month in a bribery case.
The labor minister has been accused of diverting covid funds and the energy minister of meddling with fuel deals. All have denied the allegations.
Each person has denied the charges.
Mr Chakwera was elected in 2020 on the promise to fight corruption.
Just last week two powerful church groups told him he had not been doing enough to tackle the problem.
