Mamadu Jao Named ECOWAS New Commissioner For Education, Science, And Culture

ECOWAS Commission has announced the appointment of Dr. Mamadu Jao as the new Commissioner for Education, Science, and Culture to replace the late Leopoldo Amado.

The announcement was made at the handover ceremony which took place at the River plaza (ECOWAS annex office) with senior officials in attendance at the handing over ceremony from Mamadou Traore to the incoming.

At the ceremony, Acting Commissioner Traore thanked everyone at the directorate for their presence and introduced the new commissioner.

He expressed happiness for the opportunity to work with committed staff of the directorate during his acting capacity.

He gave a brief overview and the actual situation of the department regarding the staff, the divisions and the work it had carried out as acting Commissioner for six months.

Traore ended his speech by wishing the new commissioner success in this journey and makes himself available to collaborate.

After handing over the process, the new Commissioner for Education, Science and Culture,  Mamadu Jao, also thanked the outgoing acting Commissioner for his dedication and commitment.

He asked that the unity and team spirit of the staff of the department shown during the tenure of the acting commissioner should be extended to him to succeed while promising to do his utmost in ensuring that the department fulfills its mandate.

At the end of the ceremony, an award was presented to the outgoing acting commissioner in recognition of his dedication and hard work.
