Manchester United’s Old Trafford May Host Tyson Fury Vs Anthony Joshua Fight

According to Manchester Evening News, the anticipated Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua boxing bout is set to take place before the end of 2022 and the Gypsy King has presented a number of venues to host the fight including Manchester United’s ground.

Tyson Fury has claimed to have booked Manchester United’s Old Trafford ground for a fight with Anthony Joshua in November.

It’s the latest claim from the Gypsy King who is looking to make a fight with Joshua happen this year after talks between the two camps have ramped up in the last 48 hours.

It emerged earlier on Wednesday that Joshua has reportedly accepted Fury’s offer for a fight with the WBC and Linear heavyweight titles on the line before the end of 2022.

Fury revealed on Tuesday that he has offered Joshua a 60:40 split  for their proposed ‘Battle of Britain’ fight – a bout which is long overdue with the two going back and forth for the better part of six years.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn said the Principality Stadium in Cardiff is the only suitable venue in the UK to stage the fight at that time of year and a date of December 17 quickly emerged as the most likely option.

Reports claimed both camps agreed to that date for the all-British blockbuster clash but Fury has insisted that he’d like to fight before that.

Fury has now claimed that his camp have ‘officially’ booked Old Trafford on November 12 for the fight – but suggested two later dates at different venues are more likely to come to fruition.

United play Fulham away in the Premier League on November 12.

He said “I have seen that they are trying to wriggle a little bit with the date because we officially have Manchester United’s football ground booked for the 12th of November, however they are saying that is too short.

“So, what I have got that’s even better than that is Wembley Stadium booked for the 26th of November of this year. And if he doesn’t want to go to Wembley at the end of November, I even have a December date for him – the 3rd of December at Cardiff!

“So, take your little pick, dosser. There’s no wriggling!”

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren said: “It will be in the UK and hopefully in November. That’s what we are looking at.

“How we make it work is that Tyson insists the fight is in the UK. So it’s got to work. He wants to fight here and deliver to the British fans.
