Mojisola Meranda has stepped down as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. She announced her resignation during a special plenary session on Monday afternoon by reading out her resignation letter:
“This is a notice of resignation as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly,” Meranda declared.
Meranda took office on January 13, 2025, succeeding former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who is reportedly set for reinstatement. Despite her short tenure, lawmakers praised her leadership skills and her ability to maintain a positive atmosphere in the Assembly.
In addition to Meranda, all principal officers appointed alongside her also resigned.
