Streaming company Netflix is calling on all who feel that equality, rights and free speech, start and end at their doorstep to feel free to leave. Netflix decided to take a stand against cancel culture and all their “woke” employees. After the company’s staff staged walkouts in protest of Dave Chappelle’s ‘The Closer’ special.
Many LGBTQ+ activists decided to take part in this demonstration and threaten Netflix with resignation. Months after this incident, the company decided to issue a memo to all employees and people who are applying for jobs at the company alike.
Inside a section d known as Artistic Expression, Netflix wrote: “Entertaining the world is an amazing opportunity and also a challenge because viewers have very different tastes and points of view. So we offer a wide variety of TV shows and movies, some of which can be provocative. To help members make informed choices about what to watch, we offer ratings, content warnings and easy-to-use parental controls.
“Not everyone will like or agree with everything on our service. As employees, we support the principle that Netflix offers a diversity of stories, even if we find some titles counter to our own personal values. Depending on your role, you may need to work on titles you perceive to be harmful. If you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you.”
In reality, this letter to Netflix employees is very simple, the company just sides with the artists who are making all the money for them. It’s really that simple, there is no other way to look at it. Any Netflix employee who thought they would make a difference against the streaming giant by walking out is not living in reality.
They can easily replace any of them in the blink of an eye, Netflix is that big. There will be outrage over this letter but there is nothing anybody can do to prevent more of this edgy content from getting on Netflix. It all started with Dave Chappelle but the company is trying to protect all comedians or creations that can be deemed as sensitive.
