New Mexico Solar Farm To Benefit From 20MW Energy Storage System

Honeywell has announced it will supply Hecate Energy with an energy storage system (ESS) for a solar park on the Jicarilla Apache Nation in northern New Mexico.

Honeywell International Inc. is an American publicly traded, multinational conglomerate corporation headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Expected to be complete in fall of 2022, the 50MW solar farm will be capable of supplying enough electricity to power up to 16,000 average New Mexican homes for a year.

The 20MW ESS will form a battery-powered platform that integrates asset monitoring, DER management, supervisory control and analytics functionality.

The ESS system will combine with the Experion energy control system to enable Hecate Energy to accurately forecast its energy costs.

The aim is to allow Hecate, developer, owner and operator of renewable power projects and storage solutions, to optimise its energy costs and support users with access to reliable and cost-effective clean energy.

According to technology manufacterer, Honeywell, asset owners will be able to utilise the ESS for more than one use case, including peak shaving, backup power generation and demand response programmes.

The project is further hoped to help meet the state’s decarbonisation goals.
