Nigeria and Belgium are strengthening their economic collaboration, particularly in agriculture and food security, according to Wale Edun, Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Mohammed Manga, the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Finance, confirmed that Edun met with Belgian Ambassador Pieter Leenknegt to explore areas of partnership.
During the discussion, Edun highlighted Nigeria’s improving economic landscape, including declining inflation, stable prices, and increased federal savings. He also emphasized the government’s ongoing support for farmers through sustainable policies aimed at boosting agricultural productivity.
The meeting reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to key macroeconomic reforms. Ambassador Leenknegt reiterated Belgium’s interest in deepening economic relations with Nigeria for mutual benefit, stating that both nations would continue to explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation.
