The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced it will launch a fully digital platform for the application of the Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card (CERPAC) starting August 1, 2025.
This was made known in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller of Immigration, Akinsola Akinlabi. He explained that the shift to an online system aligns with the Federal Government’s broader reforms to modernize the NIS and improve the transparency, efficiency, and accessibility of its services.
Akinlabi revealed that the new platform will allow applicants to file their CERPAC applications entirely online, eliminating the need for paper forms.
“From August 1, physical CERPAC forms will no longer be accepted. All applications must be processed through the digital portal,” he stated.
He emphasized that the digital migration is designed to streamline the application process for both individuals and organizations handling immigration responsibilities for expatriates, enhancing the overall user experience.
Applicants who have already paid but are yet to submit their paper-based applications have until July 31 to complete the process. Failure to do so, he warned, will result in the invalidation of their applications and forfeiture of any payments made.
“Applicants and companies with pending submissions must finalize everything before the deadline to avoid disruption,” Akinlabi added. “Any unsubmitted forms after the cut-off date will become void.”
He advised that all questions or concerns regarding the transition be directed to the Public Relations Officer’s office.
Akinlabi reaffirmed NIS’s commitment to delivering technologically advanced and globally compliant immigration services.
