Nigerian Chef, Hilda Bassey Does 100 Hours Cook Time

Probably the trendiest topic of the past four days, Nigerian Chef Hilda Bassey’s attempt to crush the world record and set a new record for the longest time spent cooking by an individual was all over social and mainstream media.

The chef who set out to break the previous record of 87 hours 45 min started her 4-day cooking marathon on May 11 at the amore gardens in the Lekki area of Lagos state.

By 08:32 am on Monday, Baci had cooked for 88 hours and 32 minutes and consequently set a new record for the longest cooking time by an individual. But Baci was not done and proceeded to cook for hours in total.

Trust Nigerians to show their support, as people thronged the venue, offering her support and keeping her company. Like the NYSC anthem, under the sun and in the rain, Nigerians from all works of life stuck it out with her. From musicians to actors and reality stars and even governors and politicians. Everybody came out.

The availability of social media platforms also provided streaming avenues for those who could not be there live.
