The Director-General of the National space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr Halilu Shaba, has revealed that Nigeria’s satellite has been expired for the past three years and has been functioning on grace.

He disclosed that, the satellite which was commissioned and last licensed in 2011 has a seven year life span which elapsed in 2018.

According to him, the satellite is used for security purposes and is also a source of revenue generation for the country but since its expiration has continued to provide necessary date. A phenomenon which the director described as based on grace.

“Its a story one cannot tell because so many things are competing for the same resources in the country” he said.
