NLC, TUC suspends nationwide strike

The Joint National Executive Council, NEC of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, and the Trade Union Congress TUC, on Wednesday night, have resolved to suspend the ongoing indefinite nationwide strike by workers.

The Labour unions said the suspension followed the intervention of the National Security Adviser NSA, Nuhu Ribadu.

The Labour Centres had directed their members and affiliate groups to commence an indefinite nationwide strike on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 over the brutalisation of the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, allegedly by Policemen in Owerri, Imo State, on November 1.

Following the suspension of the indefinite nationwide strike, Nigerians have expressed their happiness, stating that there was no justified reason for the NLC to embark on the strike as it only affected nation wide economic activities.
