NYSC Postpones Orientation Camp In Sokoto And Niger

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has postponed the commencement of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger states due to ongoing renovation work at the two orientation camps.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Friday by the NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, and published on the scheme’s official X account.

According to the NYSC, the decision became necessary because rehabilitation projects being carried out by the governments of both states are yet to be completed.

Under the revised timetable, the orientation programme will now begin on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, while the cut-off date and swearing-in ceremony have been scheduled for Friday, August 14, 2026. The orientation exercise will officially end with the closing ceremony on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

“The Management of the National Youth Service Corps wishes to announce the extension of the commencement date for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger States. This is due to the ongoing renovation works in both Orientation Camps by their respective State Governments,” the statement read.

The scheme advised all prospective corps members posted to Sokoto and Niger states to adjust their travel plans in line with the new schedule and take necessary precautions while travelling.

“All Prospective Corps Members are advised to avoid embarking on night travels to their Orientation Camps,” the NYSC said.

The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, also wished all prospective corps members safe journeys as preparations continue for the orientation exercise in their respective camps.
