A philanthropic organisation under the aegis Mediatrix Development Foundation has flagged off a free medical outreach targeted at three thousand people in Obudu local government area of Cross River State, south-south Nigeria.
The foundation, which belongs to the wife of the governor of Cross River State, Dr. Linda Ayade, collaborated with the Faith Care International for the 5 days medical outreach.
The outreach was held at the newly completed state-of-the-art Obudu German Specialist Hospital in Obudu council area, where some of the people got free consultation, eye and dental care, laboratory services and surgeries.
The Chief Operating Officer of the Mediatrix Development Foundation, Mr. Jeffery Adamade expressed satisfied with the turnout of people for the health services , noting that the team performed more than 48 successful surgeries.
Ademade stated that this year alone, the foundation has held outreaches in Abi, Akamkpa, Akpabuyo, Obudu and Odukpani local government areas, saying “the outreaches we had in Akamkpa and Akpabuyo alone were held in the remote areas and lasted 17 days’’.
On other interventions of the organisation, he further stated that the “Mediatrix Development Foundation engages in other thematic areas such Education of the girl child, maternal health and providing support to the elderly including persons with disabilities. So, in as much as we are holding medical outreaches, we are also touching other areas.”
A team of 40 medical specialists from around Nigeria including the founder of the Mediatrix Development Foundation, Dr. Linda Ayade, were in Obudu for the outreach.
