One Million Adhoc Staff Members To Conduct 2023 Census

Nigeria population commission is optimistic that the 2023 population and housing census will still hold this year.

The federal commissioner while hosting media executives and practitioners in Osogbo said almost all required facilities are available.

Despite the fact that the conduct of the 2023 population and housing census has been suspended till further notice, activities are still underway preparatory to the exercise.

At this breakfasts session with journalists and media executives in Osogbo,Osun State capital, the commission is seeking the cooperation of all stakeholders and citizens in ensuring a credible and acceptable population census in the country.

Mudasiru Hussein noted that the digital census will play vital role in enhancing national development by providing accurate data and statistics.

Hussain said one million adhoc staffs have been trained for the exercise.

The commission said the postponement by the last administration was to give the president Bola Tinubu led administration ample opportunity to have robust input in the exercise.

He said the aim of the breakfast is to update the media and Nigerians on the level of preparation for the census.

He stressed that the Delimitation area demarcation, pretext and trial census and other preliminary exercises including payment and remuneration have been conducted .

Former president Buhari had postponed the 2023 population and housing census from 3rd to 7th may 2023 till further notice.
