Osun APC Accuses Adeleke Of Using Flyover Project To Fund Vote-Buying

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of attempting to divert public funds through the planned renovation of the Ola-Iya Flyover Bridge, alleging that the project is intended to finance vote-buying ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

The criticism follows Governor Adeleke’s directive to the Osun State Ministry of Works to assess, clean and rehabilitate the bridge.

Reacting to the development, the Head of the Publicity Committee of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Oluremi Omowaiye, described the project as an unnecessary exercise aimed at misusing public resources.

According to him, “It is becoming increasingly obvious that Governor Adeleke is headed for a resounding defeat at the polls. Public feedback, independent surveys, and the mood across the state show that the electorate is tired of his administration, having endured anti-people policies and poor governance.”

Omowaiye argued that the flyover, which was constructed during the administration of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, remains in good condition and does not require rehabilitation.

He stated, “Only political hallucinators and those bent on milking state resources would contemplate rehabilitating a flyover that has continued to demonstrate its engineering integrity.”

The APC spokesman also alleged that the Adeleke administration had awarded several multi-billion-naira road contracts to companies without proven engineering expertise.

He claimed that some of the contractors reportedly operate in unrelated sectors, including fertiliser distribution, cyber café services, fashion design and interior decoration.

Omowaiye further warned that officials responsible for the alleged misuse of public funds would eventually be held accountable.

“Public office demands transparency. Those entrusted with Osun’s resources will, in due course, answer before the EFCC, ICPC, and ultimately the people whose resources they were elected to manage,” he said.

The Osun State Government is yet to officially respond to the allegations raised by the APC regarding the planned rehabilitation of the Ola-Iya Flyover Bridge.
