President Bola Tinubu has appointed Daniel Bwala as Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, as announced by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga. The President also named three individuals to lead various national agencies as Directors-General.
In his statement, Onanuga introduced Mr. Bwala as a lawyer and well-known public affairs analyst. Bwala previously served as the spokesperson for the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) 2023 presidential campaign, where he voiced strong critiques of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and then-candidate Tinubu. Since the election, however, Bwala has shifted his support, expressing intent to align with the APC and President Tinubu’s administration. He clarified on Channels Television that he had exited the PDP and was close to joining the ruling party, emphasizing that his support for the Tinubu administration is rooted in service, not self-interest.
In addition to Bwala, President Tinubu has appointed Olawale Olopade as Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Dr. Abisoye Fagade as Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, and Dr. Adebowale Adedokun as Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement.
Mr. Olopade brings extensive experience in sports administration, having served as Ogun State’s youth and sports commissioner and as chair of the 2024 National Sports Festival organizing committee. Dr. Fagade, now leading the Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, is an accomplished marketing communication professional and founder of Sodium Brand Solutions. Dr. Adedokun, heading the Bureau of Public Procurement, previously directed research, training, and strategic planning within the bureau.
President Tinubu urged these new appointees to carry out their responsibilities with dedication, patriotism, and a commitment to excellence.
