Reps Tasks Revenue Agencies On Synchronisation Of Figures

The House of representative committee on Finance has advised agencies in the petroleum sector to synchronize figures released in the sector.

The Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Rep. Saidu Abdullahi, gave the advice during an appearance by the management of the Midstream, Downstream Petroleum Authority, at the 2023-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Framework/Fiscal Strategy Paper Sessions with Ministries Departments and Agencies in Abuja.

He said that all the agencies in the sector brandish different figures and confused Nigerians.

He said: “Conflict of figures has been a major challenge in Nigeria. We are not seeing synergy between the various agencies in the sector.“

Rep. Abdullahi also noted that Nigeria is bleeding from paucity of funds and all agencies need to take the issues of government remittances more seriously.

In his response to some of the questions, the Executive Director of Midstream, Downstream Petroleum Authority, Mr. Abiodun Adeniji, said that the agency is relatively new and was still trying to sort itself out.

The appearance by the Nigeria Postal Service was stepped down because they failed to meet the committee’s requirements.
