Sadio Mane Facing Bayern Munich Axe After Dressing Room Altercation

Senegal and Bayern Munich star Sadio Mane is said to be in hot water at the club after a dressing room bust-up with teammate and fellow winger Leroy Sane. The forward, who has struggled for consistency at the Allianz Arena, may now be thrown out of the club unceremoniously.

Mane joined Bayern Munich on a free transfer from Liverpool in the summer of 2022 and has not had the easiest of transitions to German football. The reigning African Footballer of the Year has 11 goals and five assists in 32 appearances for the German giants across all competitions.

Sadio Mane fell foul of the club’s hierarchy in their UEFA Champions League Quarterfinal first leg humbling at the hands of Manchester City. The 31-year-old started the match on the bench before making his way onto the pitch in the 69th minute as a replacement for Jamal Musiala. During the match, there was a tense exchange between Mane and German winger Sane, and this spilled into the dressing room after the final whistle.

Mane punched Sane in the face, connecting with his lower lip and reportedly leaving a mark. Both men had to be separated by their teammates, and Sane was asked to momentarily leave the dressing room.

The club have declined to comment on the incident so far, but are said to be considering punitive action against the Senegalese winger. He may face a fine or suspension from the club, and a complete sale away from the club is also a real option. The winger will now await the club’s verdict on his future, while enduring a fractious relationship with the rest of the dressing room, where Sane is quite popular.
